Josie Ashworth

Poet and librarian Josie Ashworth lives and  works in Te Aroha.

She writes poetry and short stories, with the occasional foray into longer works.

As a student she had poems published in the Otago University Literary Review, and more recently has entered stories in the Short Story competition run by the Whakatane Friends of the Library, taking second prize in 2004.Her poems have appeared in the 2015 and 2016 NZ Poetry Society annual publications.

In 2015 her poem Anzac Dawn, written after attending the dawn service that year in Te Aroha, won the Gallipoli section in the New Zealand Poetry Society 2015 International Poetry Competition.
